The Glen

Kayaking at The Glen in NH was great again this year. On Wednesday night the moon was full and as Elizabeth and I paddled peacefully on the lake we watched as the moon rose up from behind Mt. McGallaway. What a beautiful site! It was so big and bright and almost as soon as it came up over the mountain it hid again behind a dense cloud only to make a second appearance as it rose up from behind the cloud. A special treat!
On Thursday I practiced some rescues. I was unsure whether or not I would be able to do it because of my chronic shoulder, knee and hip problems (arthritis?) but it proved not to be a hinderance. I was able to rescue my niece, Kaitlyn, helping her into her boat from the water as I remained in my kayak. After that I tipped myself over in water that was over my head. With my paddle float and rope was able to get myself back into my kayak with no help.
